I am from the South Side of Chicago. I am a performer; I always have been and always will be. I have been dancing since the age of 2 and I refuse to stop. I truly love the theatrical and performing arts. I had a very successful high school theatre career both in front of and behind the curtains. I was honored to receive two leading roles, favorite comedic actress, and the all-school director’s award for stage-managing in the fall musical during my high school career.

I am also a musician. I play viola. I was honored to be able to play with the Mother McAuley Full Orchestra where I received an award for musical excellence and leadership. While at DePaul, I decided to focus on things outside of performance until I was introduced to Nu’Ance Inspirational Dance Team during my first year at DePaul.

Three years later I became president and co-founder of FunDivine Dance at DePaul University and performing both on and off campus. At FunDivine our motto is “growing together, inside and out”, which is truly a phrase I abide by in everything that I do. FunDivine Dance is now in the very capable hands of Jennifer Gardner, who has an amazing blog of her own. Follow the link the check it out http://smallpinkdreams.blogspot.com/

In my work as an Egan Hope Scholar I strive to inspire those around me to do more than just a service to others by being of service to others. Being of service means that you do more than just serve a bowl of soup to a person in need. It means that you do something like engage in meaningful conversation with the person you are giving your time to, or that you dedicate more than just one day to the same service site. A small gesture like that could change a person’s entire life and truly inspire them to do more!

Peace, Love, Soul, and Emerithing like that,

Em
